About Venue

West Bengal is an Indian state which lies in the eastern region of India. It is the fourth-most populous state of India, having over 91 million citizens. The state has a rural population of about 60%, and most of its villagers live in small hamlets. The state is home to the Bengal tiger, which is the national animal of India. West Bengal is also known for its sweets and snacks such as rasgulla and mishti doi. The state has a rich cultural heritage with influences from Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, and Christianity. West Bengal has a long-standing tradition of folk drama known as Jatra. This form of theatre is a musical drama which depicts some story in a melodious manner even while acting it out on stage. It used to be one of the ways to spread the story of Lord Krishna to people. Howrah district of West Bengal gained its importance with the advent of railways from Howrah in 1854. There is a large industrial population in the district. The industrial heritage of the district is enviable and it plays a vital role in the economy of both the state and the country as a whole. Howrah District is located on the western bank of the Hooghly River. Howrah city is called the Glasgow of India due to its beautifying architectural structure. The culture in Howrah is deeply influenced by Bengali culture, which is known for its rich heritage, literature, art, music, and food. One of the most significant cultural events in Howrah is Durga Puja, a festival celebrated with great enthusiasm and zeal.
